As our flying season for 2016 approaches its close, our thoughts turn to Halloween and Bonfire Night to partly fill the void left once our big red balloons are packed away for the winter, with a look at the spooky fun and firework displays in Staffordshire.
We have two wonderful launch sites – one at Uttoxeter Racecourse in the north and also operate hot air balloon rides over Stafford from nearby Amerton Farm.
The county turns into ‘Spooktacular Staffordshire’ for half term, with a host of ghostly and ghoulish events from the north to the south.
From Scarefest at Alton Towers to the truly terrifying Screamfest (not recommended for under 12s!) at National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton Upon Trent, there are Halloween events aplenty for all ages.
For some great family fun this Halloween, Trentham Gardens has lots of events planned for half term, from Halloween Wilderness Survival Skills and Chills and Thrills week, when the ‘Deadly Dungeon’ will be open in the Monkey Forest.
Spooky Fun Near Stafford
Amerton Farm will host both a Halloween Spooktacular for children at its playbarn on Wednesday 26th and
Thursday 27th October, while the are grown-ups only ghost hunt evenings on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th October.
Booking for the ghost hunt is already available, with tickets for the Halloween Spooktacular available very soon.
Once Halloween is over, it’s time for the fun of firework displays in Staffordshire.
Firework Displays in Staffordshire
The Round Table Charity Fireworks Extravaganza, Stafford’s annual bonfire night spectacular, will take place on Saturday 5th November at Shugborough Hall.
While there is no bonfire at the event this year due to Shugborough Hall transferring back into the ownership of the National Trust, the firework display is planned to be bigger and better than ever, with the fair and refreshment stalls also there as usual.
The Shugborough Estate closed doors to general visitors on 30th September, with the gardens remaining open until 21st October before the site closes completely until March 2017.
Further north in the county and back at the Trentham Estate, the Trentham Gardens Bonfire and Fireworks display will return on Friday 4th December.
Tickets cost £10.50 in advance or £11.50 on the day, with concessions for annual ticket holders and Rotary Club members and under fours go free.
But if your heart is still set on a hot air balloon ride, October is also the month we start releasing dates for our 2017 flying season, which begins on 1st March.
