Longleat Sky Safari Hot Air Balloon Festival Review

Reading Time - 1 minutes

Almost a month has passed since Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire held their first ever Sky Safari and as the ballooning flying season comes to a close, we couldn’t not mention this brilliant hot air balloon event.

Close to our Swindon hot air balloon launch site at the famous Lydiard Park Estate, Longleat wanted a special way to mark their 50th anniversary – and what better way to celebrate a special occasion in style than with 50 hot air balloons?!

The mass ascent, included the new ‘Longleat Lion’ hot air balloon that was showcased at this year’s Bristol Balloon Fiesta.

Sticking with the apt animal theme, the famous penguin twosome Puddles and Splash were also in the line-up and took to the skies along with dozens of other colourful balloons.

As with all aspects of ballooning the event was of course weather the dependent, but the glorious September sunshine was on side, meaning both the mass ascents and spectacular nightglow were able to go ahead.

Floating Over Wiltshire….

A hot air balloon ride over Wiltshire is the perfect way to take in some of England’s most picturesque countryside.

The lucky balloonists and passengers launching from Longleat were able to see the magnificent stately home and 9,000 acres of parkland, home to over 500 animals.

The park is certainly worth a visit if you’re looking for a great day out in Wiltshire and is even holding a spooktacular Halloween festival this month.

Partying Nighglow Style

Longleat’s hot air balloon festival ended on a high with a magical nightglow, which saw several balloons light up their burners in time to music – now that’s what we call celebrating your 50th anniversary in style.
