The UK’s first ever motor show, the ‘Horseless Carriage Exhibition’, was held in Tunbridge Wells way back in 1895. Five exhibits went on display, including a fire engine consisting of a Daimler engine mounted on a horse wagon, a motor tricycle and two motorcars made from horse carriages converted to hold an engine.

Directions

From The North:
Exit the M40 at Junction 4 and take the A228 south towards Tunbridge Wells. Travel for approximately eight miles south on the A228, where you will see brown tourist signs for The Hop Farm. At the roundabout where the A228 meets the B2160, take the third exit into The Hop Farm.

From The South:
From the A21, exit north onto the A228 signposted Maidstone and Pembury. Continue along the A228 for just over four miles until you reach the roundabout with the B2160. Take the first exit at the roundabout into The Hop Farm.

Please park in the car park signposted ‘A’ immediately on the left as you enter The Hop Farm and your balloon crew, where you balloon crew will meet you beneath the ‘A’ sign.

Note: Due to the opening hours of The Hop Farm, access to any toilets is only likely to be available before evening flights.
