Fun & Interesting Facts
The world-famous Ironbridge was the first structure in the world made from cast iron, built in 1779. Almost dismantled and ‘sold for scrap’ in the 1960s, it is now under the care of English Heritage and was one of the first places in the UK to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986.
Until 1950, everybody had to pay a toll to cross the bridge – even the Royal Family.
