Fun & Interesting Facts
Back in 1538, King Henry VIII acquired The Old Palace at Hatfield House, which he used as a nursery for his three children, Mary, Elizabeth and Edward. It is probably most famously associated with Queen Elizabeth, who was placed under house arrest at Hatfield park when her older sister Mary became queen and was under an oak tree in the grounds when she herself would first learn of her succession to the throne of England.
