About
One of our back-up launch sites for Shropshire, your flight may be moved here on the day.
A hot air balloon ride over Shropshire starting from Whitchurch begins here at the market town’s Sports and Leisure Centre. Sat on the Anglo-Welsh boarder, Whitchurch is a picture-perfect spot to start an airborne adventure in the countryside.
Earmarked as the oldest continually inhabited town in the county of Shropshire, balloon flights from Whitchurch will give you views of a place steeped in decades of history dating back to its founders, the Romans.
The direction of the wind will determine the moments you capture. A south westerly wind will take your hot air balloon up towards Combermere and its hidden rural gem The Combermere Abbey. The Abbey is a Cistercian Monastery founded in 1133 and is set amongst rolling hills and great Oaks on the well-known 143 acre Comber Mere.
A north westerly wind may see you travel towards the south east over the three Pree's villages towards the Twemlows Big Wood, whereas moving in a westerly direction may bring Fenns Bank and Fenns Wood into view. Situated towards your east is the historic park and gardens of the 16th century Shavington Hall.
Compasses at the ready, every direction from our Whitchurch launch sites will bring beautiful Shropshire sights below the basket of your Virgin hot air balloon.
