About
One of our back-up launch sites in Berkshire, your flight may be moved to Woolhampton on the day.
A hot air balloon ride from Woolhampton in the Royal County of Berkshire launches from behind The Rowbarge Inn pub, convenient for a bite to eat post-flight, and will carry you over this pretty region south of Reading towards Basingstoke.
Look out for Douai Abbey, which is home to a community of monks of the English Benedictine Congregation, originally founded in 1615 in Paris and who came to England in 1903 at the invitation of the Bishop of Portsmouth.
The Abbey, construction of which began in 1929, was completed in 1993 and the monastery, built in 1966, is undergoing refurbishment.
Depending on the will of the wind you might drift over the magnificent Englefield Estate, home of Sir William and Lady Elizabeth Benyon and named after the battle between the Saxons and Danes that took place there in AD 871. Thought to mean ‘Englishmen’s (Battle) Field’ or ‘Field of Angels’, look out for Englefield’s Ivy House at the top of the estate gardens and the woodland garden designed and planted by Wallace and Barr of Tunbridge Wells. There’s also a children’s garden with surprise fountain to watch out for, while deer graze outside the boundary fence.
Englefield village is a pretty place to relax and enjoy a sandwich lunch and a cuppa at its tearoom.
Whichever direction your hot air balloon majestically drifts, you're sure to take in amazing scenery on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
A balloon flight near Reading across these picturesque villages is perfect if you're looking for a unique thing to do or exciting day out in beautiful Berkshire.
